Event Description:听Like most academic institutions across the country, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have been forced to cancel or postpone commencement ceremonies due to the COVID-19 outbreak. As a result of this, JPMorgan Chase is supporting 鈥淪how Me Your Walk HBCU Edition,鈥� a virtual commencement ceremony on May 16 that will celebrate the achievements of more than 27,000 HBCU students from 78 schools. JPMorgan Chase is supporting this effort through its Advancing Black Pathways initiative, which was created to help black communities close historical achievement gaps in three key areas: wealth creation, educational outcomes and career success to complete their bachelor鈥檚 degree. During the event, HBCUs will raise funds to support students because research shows they must often overcome significant socioeconomic challenges to complete bachelor鈥檚 degrees. 鈥淪how Me Your Walk HBCU Edition鈥� was conceived by Dr. Michael Sorrell, President of Paul Quinn College (PQC) and member of the ABP Advisory Council. Additional organizers for the event include Howard University, The National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO), Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), United Negro College Fund (UNCF), and the NBA.
